Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor, with demand for cybersecurity, cloud, software engineering and shared-services professionals. For island living, Penang is especially attractive: it combines a strong technology sector with beaches, historic George Town, diverse food and a relatively relaxed lifestyle. Langkawi is more tourism-focused and quieter, while Sabah and Sarawak provide nature, cultural diversity and smaller professional markets. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in business. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or Western countries, although central Kuala Lumpur and Penang can be costly. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must meet immigration and salary requirements. Secure the job offer first, verify sponsorship, arrange accommodation and healthcare, and check current visa rules before relocating.
