Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in SAP, software engineering, cloud, data, cybersecurity, shared services and consulting, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor. Penang is known for technology and manufacturing, while Langkawi and Sabah offer a slower island lifestyle and strong tourism sectors. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest job market, international schools, healthcare and public transport, but living costs are higher. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional settings. Food, tropical weather and relatively affordable living are major attractions. Foreign professionals normally need an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and role, and policies can change. Candidates should secure written sponsorship before relocating, confirm medical and tax obligations, and budget for housing, transport and insurance. Malaysia is generally welcoming, though adapting to humidity, traffic and local workplace customs is important.
