Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor, especially in software engineering, SAP, cloud services, cybersecurity, shared services and consulting. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest job market, international schools, public transport and a broad expatriate community. Penang combines a strong electronics and technology sector with a more relaxed island lifestyle, while Langkawi offers beaches, outdoor activities and a quieter pace but fewer specialist jobs. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with Singapore or major Western cities. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with qualifications and salary assessed by authorities. Arrange the pass before starting work, bring certified documents and check relocation support, healthcare, housing and tax obligations with Capgemini.
