Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Cyberjaya, with demand for SAP consultants, cloud specialists, software engineers, cybersecurity professionals and business analysts. Penang is especially attractive for technology and manufacturing careers, while Langkawi and Sabah offer a slower island lifestyle but fewer corporate roles. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are generally moderate, although Kuala Lumpur rents and central-city expenses are higher. Public transport is strongest in major urban areas; island locations usually require a car or motorbike. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer, and dependants may require separate passes. Secure a job offer before relocating, check qualification requirements, arrange accommodation and obtain suitable health insurance.
