Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied career opportunities in SAP consulting, shared services, technology delivery, finance, manufacturing and digital operations, particularly around Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest job market, international schools, modern apartments, public transport and a diverse restaurant and cultural scene. Penang combines a strong technology sector with heritage neighborhoods, beaches and a more relaxed lifestyle. Langkawi and other islands are excellent for holidays but have fewer professional opportunities. Malaysia is culturally diverse, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international communities; English is widely used in business, while Malay is the official language. Foreign employees normally need employer-sponsored authorization, such as an Employment Pass, and should confirm eligibility before relocating. Employers often assist with immigration, documentation and onboarding. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or many Western cities, though housing and schooling costs vary significantly by location.
