Destination Guide

Malaysia offers good opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, compliance, finance, manufacturing, tourism, and customer operations. Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley provide the largest concentration of professional jobs, while Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak also have growing employment markets. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international communities, and English is widely used in corporate workplaces. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with Singapore, although central Kuala Lumpur housing is more expensive. Malaysia also offers varied island destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, the Perhentian Islands, Redang, Tioman, and Sabah’s tropical islands. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval and documentation handled through the company. Relocating candidates should arrange a valid passport, employment contract, accommodation, medical coverage, and tax registration before starting work.
