Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country with strong opportunities in technology, shared services, consulting, finance, engineering, manufacturing, and tourism. Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley are the main employment hubs, while Penang and Johor also offer growing technology and industrial markets. Life is generally convenient and affordable compared with many major international cities, with good food, public transport, shopping, beaches, and tropical weather. Malay, English, Mandarin, and Tamil are widely used in different communities, and English is common in professional workplaces. Malaysia is not one island but includes Peninsular Malaysia and parts of Borneo; popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, and Sabah’s surrounding islands. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Candidates should confirm eligibility, salary requirements, insurance, tax, and relocation support before accepting an offer.
