The country has a multicultural society shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business. Peninsular Malaysia and island destinations such as Penang, Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu each offer different experiences, from urban living to relaxed coastal communities. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and the hiring company handles much of the application process. Candidates should confirm passport, qualification, medical and dependent requirements before relocating. Housing, transport and health insurance should also be reviewed when comparing offers.
