Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in software engineering, cloud services, cybersecurity, SAP, data, consulting, shared services and digital delivery, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Cyberjaya. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, with generally warm hospitality, diverse food and respect for religious and cultural traditions. Urban life is convenient and relatively affordable, while Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak offer beaches, nature and a slower island lifestyle. Kuala Lumpur is the main corporate hub; Penang is strong in technology and manufacturing. Foreign employees usually need an Employment Pass sponsored by the employer, and dependants may require separate passes. The company normally handles immigration paperwork, but qualifications, passport validity and medical requirements must be checked early. Relocation costs vary, and renting near major business districts can be expensive. Malaysia’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with heavier monsoon periods in some regions.
