Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in consulting, technology, energy, utilities, engineering, finance, and shared services. Kuala Lumpur is the main business centre, while Penang and Johor also have growing technology and industrial markets. The country combines modern city life with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures, excellent food, tropical weather, and relatively affordable living costs. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and the Perhentian Islands, each offering beaches, diving, or heritage attractions. International hires generally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process; approval depends on salary, qualifications, and role requirements. Relocating employees should arrange immigration approval before starting work and budget for housing, healthcare, transport, and insurance. English is widely used in business, although learning basic Malay is helpful.
