Destination Guide

Japan offers career opportunities in luxury resorts, tourism, hospitality, technology, education, healthcare, and international business. Okinawa provides a warmer, coastal lifestyle with beaches, outdoor activities, distinctive Ryukyuan culture, and a slower pace than Tokyo or Osaka, although transport and housing can vary by island. Japanese workplace culture values punctuality, respect, teamwork, hierarchy, and careful communication. English may be sufficient in some international resorts, but Japanese ability is a major advantage for daily life and local relationships. Foreign hires generally need an employer-sponsored work visa, with the appropriate status depending on the role; applicants should confirm requirements with the employer and the Immigration Services Agency of Japan. Relocation normally involves securing housing, registering residency, arranging health insurance, and obtaining a residence card. Okinawa’s climate is subtropical, with hot summers and typhoon risks, so preparation is essential.
