Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology and enterprise-sales opportunities mainly in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, with additional roles in Penang, Johor, and Sabah. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest job market, modern transport, international schools, hospitals, shopping, and diverse dining, while Penang combines a strong technology sector with a slower island lifestyle and heritage culture. Langkawi and other islands are better suited to holidays than corporate employment. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and international influences; English is widely used in business. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and the hiring company handles much of the application process. Candidates should confirm eligibility, salary thresholds, dependants’ permits, taxation, and relocation support before accepting an offer. Living costs vary, but housing and transport are generally moderate compared with major Western cities.
