Destination Guide

Malaysia offers recruitment and technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Cyberjaya, with demand in consulting, shared services, software, engineering and digital operations. Peninsular Malaysia is connected to popular islands such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and Redang, while Sabah and Sarawak provide access to Borneo destinations. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Living costs are moderate compared with many international business hubs, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by the hiring company; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and approval by Malaysian authorities. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, medical requirements, tax treatment, housing and dependent-pass rules. Public transport is strongest in Kuala Lumpur, while island living is quieter but offers fewer corporate opportunities.
