Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor, especially in software, cloud, SAP, shared services, engineering and digital consulting. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and parts of Sabah, each offering beaches, food, heritage and a relaxed lifestyle. Malaysian culture is multicultural, blending Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with many international business hubs, though Kuala Lumpur housing and schooling can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; the company normally manages the application, while requirements depend on salary, qualifications and role. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm relocation benefits, check medical and tax requirements, and research housing and transport before moving. Malaysia provides good regional connectivity and a warm climate, but newcomers should prepare for humidity, monsoon seasons and local workplace customs.
