Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, software development, shared services, logistics, manufacturing and digital operations, particularly around Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. The country has a multicultural environment shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in professional workplaces. Kuala Lumpur provides modern transport, shopping, healthcare and international dining, while Penang offers a slower lifestyle, heritage areas and a growing technology sector. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or many Western cities, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign employees usually require employer-sponsored authorization, commonly an Employment Pass, before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and role. Employers normally handle the application process. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, medical coverage, taxes, accommodation and relocation support before accepting an offer. Malaysia also offers beaches, rainforests and easy regional travel.
