Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya and Penang, with demand for SAP consultants, cloud specialists, developers, cybersecurity professionals and data experts. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market, international schools, hospitals, shopping and extensive public transport. Penang combines a strong technology and manufacturing sector with a slower coastal lifestyle, while Langkawi is more tourism-focused and quieter. Malaysian culture is diverse, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous communities, with English widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with Singapore, though central Kuala Lumpur housing is more expensive. Foreign professionals usually need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; the company normally handles the application. Candidates should confirm eligibility, medical requirements and dependent-pass rules before relocating. Weather is tropical, hot and humid year-round, with seasonal heavy rain.
