Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island, with major employment hubs in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor. Technology opportunities are strongest in managed services, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, software engineering, shared services and consulting. Kuala Lumpur offers the broadest career market and public transport, while Penang is known for electronics, engineering and a more relaxed lifestyle. Malaysia combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, with diverse food, festivals and generally affordable living costs. English is widely used in professional workplaces, although Malay is the official language. Foreign employees normally need employer-sponsored approval and an Employment Pass before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and role. Candidates should confirm current immigration rules with Capgemini and Malaysian authorities. Rental, transport and healthcare costs vary by city, and newcomers should budget for deposits, insurance and relocation expenses.
