Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya and Penang, particularly in software engineering, SAP, cloud services, data, cybersecurity, shared services and digital consulting. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest job market, modern transport, international schools, hospitals, shopping and varied housing, while Penang offers a more relaxed island lifestyle and a growing technology and engineering sector. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is commonly used in professional settings. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or major Western cities, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; the company usually handles the application, and approval depends on salary, qualifications and role requirements. Check current immigration rules before relocating. Beaches, food, rainforests and weekend travel are major lifestyle benefits.
