Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in technology consulting, software, shared services, healthcare, engineering, finance and digital transformation, especially around Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor. Its islands and coastal destinations, including Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah and Sarawak, provide beaches, nature, diving and a relaxed lifestyle, while major cities offer modern transport, shopping and international schools. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English widely used in professional settings. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or many Western countries, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals normally need employer-sponsored authorization, such as an Employment Pass; the employer typically handles the application. Candidates should confirm eligibility, tax obligations, healthcare coverage and relocation support before accepting an offer. Malaysia’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with heavier monsoon rainfall in some regions.
