Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Penang and Johor, with demand for ERP consultants, cloud engineers, software developers and support specialists. Kuala Lumpur provides the largest corporate job market, while Penang combines technology employment with a relaxed island lifestyle and strong expatriate communities. Langkawi is attractive for beaches and slower living, though it has fewer specialist technology roles. Malaysian culture is diverse, welcoming and shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions. Living costs are generally moderate, with excellent food, public transport in major cities and widespread English usage in business. Foreign professionals usually need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; approval depends on qualifications, salary and company eligibility. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, medical requirements, tax treatment, housing and dependants' permits. A short-term entry visa does not authorize employment.
