Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Cyberjaya, with demand for Dynamics 365, cloud, cybersecurity, data and consulting professionals. Peninsular Malaysia provides easy access to islands such as Langkawi, Tioman and the Perhentians, while Sabah and Sarawak offer Borneo’s beaches, rainforests and Mount Kinabalu. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with excellent food, festivals and generally welcoming communities. Kuala Lumpur has modern shopping, public transport and international schools, while Penang is popular for its heritage, food and more relaxed lifestyle. Living costs are moderate compared with many global cities, though central Kuala Lumpur rents are higher. Foreign professionals usually need an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer; the company normally manages the application. Check current Malaysian immigration rules before relocating, and arrange health insurance, housing and tax advice.
