Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor for SAP, cloud, software engineering, shared services, consulting and digital operations. Penang is especially attractive for technology and engineering professionals, while Langkawi and other islands are better suited to quieter lifestyles and tourism-related work. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business. Living costs are moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular island areas can be more expensive. Malaysia’s islands provide beaches, diving, nature and relaxed weekend travel, but major professional opportunities are concentrated on the mainland. Foreign employees normally require an employment pass sponsored by their employer; the company handles much of the application process. Candidates should confirm salary, insurance, accommodation, tax obligations and relocation support before accepting an offer. A valid passport and recognized qualifications are commonly required.
