Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, software, shared services, finance, engineering, tourism, and digital operations. Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are the main employment hubs, while Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak also have growing technology and industrial markets. The country’s culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and religious traditions. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, with excellent street food, modern shopping areas, beaches, rainforests, and islands such as Langkawi, Penang, and the Perhentian Islands. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; students and interns require the appropriate training or internship authorization, so approval should be arranged before travel. Relocation costs depend on the city, but public transport, healthcare, and internet access are widely available. Learning basic Malay and respecting local customs will make settling in easier.
