Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities for data scientists, cloud specialists, software engineers, and consultants, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, and Cyberjaya. For island living, Penang combines a strong technology sector with historic George Town, excellent food, beaches, and a relatively active expatriate community. Langkawi is more relaxed and tourism-focused, while Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo offer nature, lower-density living, and growing business activity. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences; English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or Australia, although Kuala Lumpur and Penang can be more expensive. Foreign employees normally require an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer, with approval before starting work. Candidates should confirm relocation benefits, healthcare, tax, housing, and dependent-pass arrangements with Capgemini.
