Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor, with growing demand for AI engineers, software developers, cloud specialists, cybersecurity professionals, and data analysts. For island living, Penang combines a strong technology sector with beaches, heritage areas, excellent food, and a relatively relaxed lifestyle. Langkawi is quieter and more tourism-focused, while Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo offer nature, outdoor activities, and distinct local cultures. Malaysia is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with many major technology hubs, though Kuala Lumpur rents vary by neighborhood. Foreign employees usually need employer-sponsored authorization, commonly an Employment Pass, before starting work. Applicants should confirm eligibility, documentation, salary requirements, healthcare, tax obligations, and relocation support directly with the employer.
