Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in consulting, technology, aerospace-related engineering, manufacturing, shared services, finance, and digital operations. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor are the main employment hubs, while Penang and Johor also have strong technology and industrial markets. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and parts of Sabah and Sarawak, each offering beaches, nature, food, and distinct local cultures. Malaysian life is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences; English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate compared with many global cities, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship and an Employment Pass, with approval handled through Malaysian immigration authorities. Relocating employees should confirm salary, medical coverage, tax treatment, housing, and dependent-pass arrangements before accepting an offer. Public transport is strongest in major urban areas.
