Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Cyberjaya, particularly in technology consulting, cloud computing, software engineering, cybersecurity, shared services and AI. Kuala Lumpur provides the largest employment market and broadest international community, while Penang is known for electronics, engineering and a more relaxed coastal lifestyle. Malaysia’s culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences reflected in food, festivals and everyday life. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or major Western cities, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need employer-sponsored authorization, commonly an Employment Pass, before starting work. Employers normally handle the application, and approval depends on qualifications, salary and role requirements. New arrivals should arrange compliant employment documents, health insurance, banking and accommodation before relocation.
