Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country divided between Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia on Borneo, with popular islands such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and Perhentian. Most technology and SAP opportunities are concentrated in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Cyberjaya, and Penang, while Johor and selected industrial areas also offer manufacturing-related roles. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many global technology hubs; Kuala Lumpur offers urban convenience, while Penang provides a slower pace and strong food culture. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling approval and documentation. Candidates should confirm salary, relocation support, tax treatment, healthcare, and dependent-pass arrangements before moving. Public transport is strongest in Kuala Lumpur, while driving is more practical elsewhere.
