Kuala Lumpur and Penang are the main technology hubs, while Johor benefits from proximity to Singapore and growing industrial investment. The country has a multicultural society shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous communities, with English widely used in professional settings. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in Singapore or many Western cities, and residents enjoy varied food, tropical weather, beaches, highland areas, and modern urban amenities. Malaysia is not only islands: Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak offer distinctive coastal and island lifestyles. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship, an approved Employment Pass, and relevant qualifications and experience. Employers normally manage the application process, but requirements and salary thresholds can change. Candidates should confirm immigration rules, taxes, healthcare, housing, and relocation support before accepting an offer.
