Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied career opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and major business centres, particularly in technology, finance, shared services, consulting, manufacturing and digital operations. For island living, Penang provides strong employment prospects, excellent food, heritage culture and a relaxed urban lifestyle. Langkawi is more scenic and tourism-focused, while Sabah and Sarawak offer distinctive cultures, nature and growing service industries. Malaysian life is generally affordable compared with many international hubs, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. English is widely used in multinational workplaces, while Malay is the national language. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company typically handles the application. Dependants may require separate passes. Before relocating, confirm the work location, benefits, tax treatment, healthcare coverage and visa eligibility. Renting initially, arranging local banking and obtaining private medical coverage can make the transition easier.
