Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country split between the Malay Peninsula and Malaysian Borneo, with popular island destinations including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and parts of Sabah and Sarawak. Most consulting and technology jobs are based in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, and Penang, while Kota Kinabalu offers growing opportunities in tourism, technology, and regional services. Malaysian culture is multicultural, blending Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in professional settings. Living costs are moderate, public transport is strongest in Kuala Lumpur, and food, tropical weather, and weekend travel are major lifestyle attractions. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company normally handles the application. Relocating workers should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking, tax registration, and document legalization before arrival.
