Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya and Penang, particularly in cloud computing, SAP, software engineering, cybersecurity, data and shared-service operations. Penang provides a relaxed island lifestyle, beaches and a major electronics industry, while Langkawi is better suited to tourism and remote-work living than large-scale technology employment. Malaysia is culturally diverse, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international communities, excellent food and generally affordable living. Kuala Lumpur offers the widest job market, transport links and expatriate services. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval depending on salary, qualifications and the role. Relocating workers should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, tax registration and document verification before arrival. English is widely used in business, although learning basic Malay helps with everyday life.
