Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in technology consulting, software, shared services, finance, engineering, tourism and digital industries, especially around Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor. For island living, Penang provides a popular balance of technology jobs, heritage culture, beaches and excellent food, while Langkawi offers a quieter, tourism-focused lifestyle with fewer corporate roles. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business. Living costs are moderate compared with Singapore or Western countries, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular expatriate areas cost more. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval handled through the company and immigration authorities. Relocating typically requires passport documents, qualifications, a signed employment contract and medical or background checks where applicable. Research housing, healthcare, transport and tax obligations before moving.
