Destination Guide

Sri Lanka is an island nation with growing opportunities in apparel and textiles, technology, tourism, logistics, engineering, finance, healthcare, and business services. Colombo and nearby areas offer the widest range of professional roles, while industrial zones and regional cities provide manufacturing opportunities. Sri Lankan culture combines South Asian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and colonial influences, with strong hospitality, family values, and varied food traditions. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although imported goods and central Colombo housing can be expensive. The island offers beaches, mountains, wildlife, and a relaxed lifestyle, but traffic and occasional power or service disruptions may occur. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence approval arranged with employer support; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Confirm current immigration rules before relocating, and budget for accommodation, transport, healthcare, and insurance.
