Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and textile manufacturing, IT, tourism, logistics, finance, engineering, healthcare, and shared services. Colombo and nearby areas provide the widest range of professional jobs, while industrial zones and tourist regions offer additional employment. The island has a warm climate, diverse scenery, affordable local food, and a relaxed lifestyle, although traffic and urban living costs can be significant. Sri Lankan culture values hospitality, family, religious diversity, and respect for tradition. English is widely used in business, with Sinhala and Tamil as national languages. Foreign nationals generally need an employment visa or residence permit sponsored by an approved employer; requirements should be confirmed with Sri Lankan immigration authorities before travel. Relocating employees should arrange employment documentation, accommodation, health insurance, banking, and transport in advance. Local salaries may be modest compared with those in Western countries, but everyday expenses can be comparatively manageable.
