Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a diverse country spanning the Malay Peninsula and northern Borneo, with popular island destinations including Langkawi, Penang, Redang, Tioman and parts of Sabah. Hospitality, events, food and beverage, tourism, retail and resort operations offer regular employment opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and beach resorts. Life combines modern city conveniences with relaxed coastal living, multicultural festivals, excellent food and generally affordable daily costs, although resort islands can be more expensive. English is widely used in hotels, while Malay is the national language. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass before starting work; requirements vary by salary, role and nationality. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, housing, transport, healthcare and taxation arrangements before relocating.
