Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, aviation, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its languages, festivals and famous hawker food. Lifestyle is convenient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, shopping, green spaces and lively neighbourhoods, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign nationals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass. Hospitality employees may qualify for an S Pass or Employment Pass, subject to current salary, qualification and quota requirements; employers normally handle the application. Before relocating, confirm the contract, accommodation, medical coverage, work-pass eligibility and service-charge arrangements. Singapore’s humid weather, long working hours and rotating hotel shifts should also be considered. The city’s efficient transport and international community make it a practical base for building a hospitality career.
