Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, engineering, construction, technology, education, and marine services. Bali is the most internationally oriented destination, with a strong expatriate community and active hospitality market. Jakarta, on Java, provides broader corporate and engineering opportunities, while Lombok, Batam, and destinations in eastern Indonesia offer resort and tourism roles with a quieter lifestyle. Local culture values respect, community, modesty, and religious traditions; customs vary considerably between islands. Living costs range from moderate to high in tourist centers, and accommodation, transport, healthcare, and internet quality can differ outside major cities. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work authorization and appropriate visa, commonly arranged through the company; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, tax, insurance, contract terms, and relocation support before accepting an offer. Learning basic Indonesian is highly useful for daily life and workplace integration.
