Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and famous hawker food. Life is safe, convenient and generally fast-paced, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant shopping and dining. Housing can be expensive, so newcomers often compare staff accommodation, shared apartments and areas outside the city centre. Employers normally arrange the appropriate work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, subject to government eligibility rules and quotas; foreign workers should not begin employment before approval. Relocation usually involves securing a job offer, gathering qualifications and identity documents, arranging housing and budgeting for deposits, transport and healthcare. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
