Philippines Shangri-La PHP 120,000–PHP 200,000 per month, plus benefits and possible performance incentives*
Job Description

The Director of Events Management leads the planning, sales, and delivery of conferences, weddings, banquets, and other events for Shangri-La in the Philippines. Candidates typically need substantial luxury-hotel or resort experience, strong knowledge of event operations, budgeting, contracts, and revenue generation, together with excellent leadership and communication skills. The role expects close coordination with catering, rooms, culinary, finance, and guest services teams. The successful candidate should be commercially minded, highly organized, calm under pressure, and capable of building lasting relationships with corporate clients, wedding planners, travel partners, and local businesses. Fluency in English and a professional, guest-focused approach are generally expected.

Company Info

Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts, residences, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and other international markets. Its Philippine properties are recognized for high service standards, distinctive resort settings, extensive dining facilities, and large-scale meetings and events. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on warm Asian hospitality, personalized guest experiences, employee development, responsible business practices, and operational excellence. Depending on the property, employees may work with international travelers, corporate accounts, wedding clients, and local communities. The company generally offers structured hotel training, career mobility, and benefits typical of an established luxury hospitality group, although exact compensation and conditions vary by property, seniority, and location.

Destination Guide

The Philippines offers varied opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, events, tourism, food and beverage, and travel services, particularly in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and Davao. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented, hospitable, and English is widely used in workplaces. Island living can provide beaches, outdoor activities, and a relaxed lifestyle, but transport, healthcare, internet reliability, and housing costs differ greatly between locations. Manila offers the broadest professional network, while resort islands may provide a quieter setting but fewer urban conveniences. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Alien Employment Permit and an appropriate work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm accommodation, tax treatment, relocation support, medical coverage, and visa sponsorship directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
