Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. Its properties are known for warm Asian hospitality, personalized guest service and premium accommodation. Shangri-La’s Maldives operation, Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, is located on a private island in Addu Atoll and offers villas, restaurants, wellness facilities and extensive recreational activities. The company places strong emphasis on service excellence, colleague development, cultural awareness and creating memorable guest experiences. Employees at resort locations commonly work in an international environment and may receive benefits such as staff accommodation, meals, transportation, medical support, service charge and annual leave arrangements, depending on the position and employment contract.
The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities mainly in luxury resorts, hotels, restaurants, marine recreation, spa services, engineering, finance and guest relations. Resort islands provide a very different lifestyle from Malé: work and accommodation are usually on the same island, with beautiful beaches, water activities and a close international community, but limited shopping and nightlife. Maldivian culture is shaped by Islam, strong family ties, seafood cuisine and traditional island communities; visitors should dress respectfully in local inhabited islands and avoid public alcohol consumption outside resorts. Foreign employees generally require an employment approval and work visa arranged by the employer before or after arrival, with passport, medical and contract documentation commonly required. Relocation packages vary, so confirm accommodation, meals, flights, insurance, service charge, leave, internet access and working hours before accepting an offer. Weather is warm year-round, with wetter monsoon periods and humid conditions.
