Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, tourism, events, aviation, retail and international business. Island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and parts of Sabah provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and multicultural communities, while Kuala Lumpur offers broader career options and higher business activity. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hospitality, although learning basic Malay is helpful. Living costs vary, with resort islands often more expensive for imported goods and housing. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the hiring company typically handles the application and immigration process. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, medical coverage, tax treatment and relocation support before accepting an offer. Work permits, eligibility and dependent arrangements should be checked with the employer and Malaysian authorities.
