Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers hospitality opportunities in Colombo, Hambantota, Galle, Kandy, and coastal resort areas, particularly in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, and wellness. The culture combines Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with strong traditions of family, religion, festivals, and welcoming guests. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living in Colombo to a slower beach, hill-country, or rural environment. Living costs are generally moderate, although imported goods and accommodation in popular areas can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work visa or residence authorization before taking employment; tourist status does not permit regular work. Employers usually support applications, but requirements should be confirmed with Sri Lankan immigration authorities. New arrivals should arrange suitable accommodation, health insurance, transport, and documentation, and should understand local customs, dress expectations, weather patterns, and public holidays.
