Destination Guide

Indonesia offers diverse opportunities in hospitality, tourism, business services, education, technology, and international companies. Bali is popular with expatriates and tourism professionals, while Jakarta provides broader corporate and hotel careers; Lombok, Batam, and other islands offer resort, marine, and industrial opportunities. Local culture values respect, community, modesty, and religious diversity, with Muslim, Hindu, Christian, and other traditions represented. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach and island communities, although traffic, humidity, and seasonal tourism can affect daily life. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work and stay permit, commonly arranged through the company; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, healthcare, tax, contract terms, and permit responsibilities. Learn basic Indonesian, respect local customs and dress expectations, and budget for transport, housing, insurance, and periodic travel between islands.
