Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations, particularly in food and beverage, housekeeping, front office, culinary operations and guest services. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hotels. Lifestyle costs vary: Kuala Lumpur is busier and more urban, while island locations provide a relaxed coastal setting but may have fewer long-term amenities. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process; requirements depend on salary, qualifications and nationality. Relocation planning should include accommodation, transport, medical cover and local banking. Malaysia has a tropical climate, so candidates should expect heat, humidity and seasonal monsoon weather.
