Job Description

The Assistant Pastry Chef supports the pastry operation by preparing breads, desserts, cakes, chocolates and other confectionery items to Shangri-La standards. Requirements generally include formal culinary or pastry training, several years of professional hotel or resort kitchen experience, sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene, and the ability to supervise colleagues during service. The successful candidate is expected to maintain consistent quality, control ingredients and waste, follow production schedules, assist with menu development, and uphold presentation standards. Strong teamwork, creativity, communication, organization and the ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and public holidays are important. Experience in a luxury hotel or international resort environment is highly advantageous.
