Destination Guide

The Philippines offers diverse opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, retail, technology and business services. Major hospitality markets include Manila, Cebu and Mactan, Boracay, Palawan and Davao. Filipino culture is friendly, family-oriented and highly social, with English widely used in workplaces. Island living can provide beaches, outdoor activities, fresh seafood and a relaxed atmosphere, although transport, healthcare and internet quality vary outside major cities. Manila offers more corporate opportunities but has heavier traffic and a faster pace; Cebu and resort destinations offer a more relaxed lifestyle with seasonal tourism demands. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, while requirements differ by nationality and contract. Relocating employees should budget for housing, transport, health insurance and deposits, and verify accommodation, taxes, permits and benefits with the employer before accepting an offer.
