Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers hospitality opportunities in Colombo, Hambantota, Kandy, Galle, and major coastal resorts, particularly in front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, culinary operations, sales, and guest relations. The culture combines South Asian traditions with strong Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian influences. People generally value courtesy, family, community, and respectful communication. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living in Colombo to a more relaxed pace in beach, hill-country, and rural areas. Living costs are moderate compared with many international destinations, although imported goods and central Colombo accommodation can be expensive. Foreign employees usually require an employment or residence visa arranged with employer support before starting work; requirements can change, so official Sri Lankan immigration guidance should be checked. Relocation planning should include accommodation, medical insurance, transport, taxation, and local banking. English is widely used in hotels, while Sinhala and Tamil are valuable additional languages.
