Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities in hotel engineering, resort operations, construction, facilities management and tourism, especially in Bali, Java, Batam, Lombok and other resort areas. Bali provides an international lifestyle, beaches, Hindu culture, restaurants and a large expatriate community, while Java offers major cities, lower-cost living in many areas and strong transport links. Local culture values respect, modesty, community and religious awareness; learning basic Indonesian is highly beneficial. Living costs vary considerably, with Bali resort areas generally more expensive than many parts of Java or Sumatra. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and stay permits; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually coordinate immigration documentation, medical checks and relocation arrangements. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, salary, service charge, insurance, leave and permit responsibilities before accepting an offer.
