Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago offering hospitality opportunities in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Davao and other tourism centers. Jobs are commonly available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, diving, wellness and guest services, with stronger seasonal demand in resort destinations. Filipino culture is warm, family-oriented and relationship-driven; English is widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living and shopping in Manila to a slower beach-based routine on islands such as Boracay or Palawan. Living costs vary considerably, and housing and transport should be researched before relocating. Foreign hires normally need employer sponsorship, an Alien Employment Permit and an appropriate work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employment visa. Local authorities may also require registration and medical documentation. Confirm current immigration rules, benefits, accommodation and relocation support directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
